Digital Technical Map (DTM) in 2023 and Beyond

In today’s world, where digital technologies are permeating every aspect of life, it comes as no surprise that public infrastructure and technical facilities are also undergoing a process of digitization. The Digital Technical Maps (DTM) project has become a key step toward modernizing and streamlining the management of transportation and technical infrastructure at the city and municipal levels.

In light of these changes, 2023 became the “Year of DTM” for Hrdlička. Not only in terms of the actual fieldwork and measurements (we were a major contractor for these projects), but also from an educational perspective. There was no comprehensive information portal dedicated to the topic that would cover it in depth while also serving as an advisory resource. Since we had to research everything ourselves, we wanted to share that information.

So we launched a website: www.dtmcr.cz and regularly updated its content based on legislation, inquiries from cities visited by our sales representatives, and information from available sources. Because we wanted to be interactive, we organized about 12 webinars, for which we sent out invitations, allowing participants to ask any necessary questions directly. The training sessions (webinars) provided detailed information on the obligations arising from the DTM project and offered practical advice for its successful implementation.

Since we consider ourselves experts in the field of digital mapping and technical infrastructure, our main goal was to familiarize participants not only with the overall concept of the DTM project, but also to provide a detailed overview of how it is organized, its legislative framework, and, most importantly, the obligations arising from it for individual municipalities in their roles as owners of transportation and technical infrastructure. The training provided participants with a comprehensive overview of the following key topics:

• The DTM Project and Its Significance: Participants learned about the fundamental purpose and significance of the DTM project for the modern management of urban and municipal infrastructure.
• DTM Project Organization: Best practices for the successful implementation of the DTM project within municipal and local government structures were presented.
• Legal Framework: Participants were briefed on the current laws and regulations pertaining to the DTM project and its implementation.
• Responsibilities and practical procedures: The main part of the training focused on the specific responsibilities arising from the DTM project for cities and municipalities that own technical infrastructure. Practical procedures for managing and updating data in the new JVF DTM data format required for uploading data to the system were discussed.
• Support for Small Municipalities: The training was designed to help small municipalities, in particular, better understand the DTM project and provide them with the tools needed to fulfill these new obligations.

In 2024, we will continue to focus on DTM in detail. In addition to theoretical guidance, we also offer specific practical services through the MawisGeoportal, including: DTM management and maintenance (primarily for cities), DTM editor, data consolidation and preparation of documentation in JVF format, as well as analysis and audit of technical infrastructure, and more. The latest approved deadline requiring owners of technical and transportation infrastructure to upload data to the digital technical map of the regions is set for July 1, 2024. Stop worrying about complicated processes and join us in the DTM without any hassle.
